:!:UPDATE: Seems like a number of people have been applying this firmware to the Grandtec IP Camera 2. Note that this is for Grandtec IP camera 3 and its clones, I believe Grandtec IP Camera 2’s hardware is different so this firmware will not work.
The Grand IP Camera III or 3 is manufactured by GrandTec whose crappy and broken website looks like its been designed by a 10 year old kid 5 years ago. This made it really difficult to find a firmware upgrade for it.
Well, we’ve recently purchased this super cheap camera from JayCar. And it was as expected for an el cheapo camera. One of the reasons we got this camera was the possibility of accessing its MJPEG stream but that was *unsurprisingly* broken out of the box. From sniffing the network traffic, we found out that they had messed up on the Content headers and was appending the stream data as part of the Content Length header.
An extensive search was carried out for a firmware update through GrandTec’s various BROKEN and SHIT websites (referring to their USA and Italian sites) where ALL the links to their support was unaccessible.
Finally, found out from netcamera.de that it was rebadged as Hama IP camera and a quick search on the Hama site brought up the 1.08 firmware which fixes MJPEG and even allowed support for non-ActiveX browsers!! You can also get it from Hama’s download page under 00062705 / Network/USB Camera.
UPDATE: Here is an older firmware from Marcin Ryk. Its an older firmware with broken mjpg headers. Hopefully anyone who is unsuccessful with the 1.08 firmware can use this to at least get a working camera again, read the comments below for more information.
To do a firmware upgrade simply go to http://ip.camera/Eng/Upload.htm, select the firmware file and click the Upload button.
