VLC for Android is looking awesome

Technical, Android, 190 words   Bookmark and Share

I’ve finally got around to building and installing VLC Media Player for Android by compiling from VideoLan’s git repo as per their instructions. UI wise its pretty similar to most of the video players on the Android Marketplace at the moment, however it was able to play all of the video files that I threw at it so far.

If you’re lazy to compile your own apk for VLC, download my build below.

:!: Disclaimer: This is alpha code and you will need at least Android 2.2 and above. USE WITH CARE, I will not be held responsible if this stuffs your phone.

Also I’m not one of their developers, so report any bugs to the amazing VLC guys.

 UPDATED: A newer VLC package is available at here

Download VLC-debug-unaligned.apk, copy it to your Android device. There are a few ways to get it on your device, either copy on to an SD card if your device has an SD slot or simply visit this page using your Android device and download the apk. Open the package with any file manager and it should try to install via an app manager.
